How to Add Someone to Edit Your Blog

One reason some people decide to get a premade blog design is because they are not sure who to make one themselves. So just sending over a file and instructions for them to install their new design can be a bit difficult. That is why I offer to install all my premade blog designs for free.
But to be able to edit a blog I need to have administrative access to it, and it is not always ideal to just hand over your username and password, so today I am showing how to add someone as an admin for your blog.

First go to your blogs dashboard and go to Basic Settings.

You see at the bottom you have Permissions, and then Blog Authors. At the moment I am the only one who can edit my blog. To add someone new, click the "+Add author" link, this will pop up a box to add someones email address.

The person you add will get an email to confirm they want to be an author.
When they accept they will appear on the list as an author. Now you need to make them an admin so they can edit your blogs template.
Click on the "Author" box and this will open a menu, select admin in that menu and you are done!

After your new blog is installed you can easily remove the new person by clicking on the blue X next to them.

Freebie Friday! Floral header

I decided every Friday I will be adding new items to my freebie section (although I may add extra in the week too).
Today's Freebie Friday I have this lovely floral header for you to use on your blog.

To use it, first click on the blank header image to open it full size, right click and save that image. Then using an image editing software or Pixlr. Add in your blogs title, for my example header I used a very curly formal font style, but you can make it any font you like. It is also best to have the text colour set to brown (#937c5d).
Save and upload your new header to your blog!

How to Center your Header in Blogger

Blogger automatically aligns blog headers to the left, and sometimes this is fine (like on my blog). But sometimes you may want your blogger header aligned to the center, and here is a simple how to!

First upload your image in your pages layout.

Now enter your template designer > Advanced > Add CSS and add the following code:

.header-outer img {margin-left: auto; margin-right:auto; }

Click "Apply to Blog" to save the changes and now you have a pretty centered header!

How to Add Pages to Your Blog in Blogger

New to blogger? Just starting out? Here is a "How to" for adding pages to your blog.
For this tutorial (and all my tutorials I work in the new version of blogger. If you are still using the older version and need a bit more help than is in this "how to" leave a comment with your troubles and I will try to help).

On your blogger dashboard click to go to the Pages section of your blog.

Now you will see a list of any pages you may already have on your site.
To add a new page click on New Page.

You have two options. Option one makes a blank page similar to a blog post where you can add any content you like. Option two is for a web address and you can link to another site like facebook, or etsy etc.

Click Blank Page. This takes you to a page that looks a lot like that for a post.
Add your title and some text (just like for a post), and click Publish (you can also preview the page to check it looks good, or save it for a later date).

I have been a freelance graphic design and web developer for the last 2 years and over the last 12 months have delved into the world of blogs through my craft blog here. I love writing for my blog, and meeting so many lovely people through their blogs. I joined the Etsy community and started helping other Etsy sellers with their blogs, through small advice to full blog make overs. I then joined the Etsy Kids team and after a couple of months was asked to join their team as the graphics co-ordinator and each month help one member of our team with blog design, photo editing, stationary design etc.
With all the work I was putting into helping people with blog designs and graphic work I figured why limit my freelance web development to just full websites? And so I decided to start this website to offer my design and programming services to people who need a new blog design but don't know where to start!

Slowly I will be adding a collection of premade affordable blog templates, a custom design service, and free advice and tutorials on how to glamorise your blog. I hope you will stay with me while I do all of this fantastic work!
